We are committed to offering the best diagnostic testing for your pet. Imaging tools like ultrasounds and X-rays allow us to see inside your pet’s body in a 100% pain-free and non-invasive way. If you have any further questions about these technologies, don’t hesitate to call us at 250-590-8445.
There can be a wide variety of reasons why the vet will require these scans. Often, they are used when diagnosing your pet with certain illnesses. They also monitor pregnancies, recovery after injury/surgery, and swallowed items – this happens more often than you might think! Ultrasounds are usually used to scan for “softer” things like cysts, tumours, and fluid build-up. On the other hand, X-rays are excellent at visualizing “harder” structures like gallstones and broken bones.
Yes. Here at Eagle Rise, we use the latest versions of these devices. For example, we use digital X-rays, which emit extremely low levels of radiation. Plus, we ensure your pet and our technicians wear protective gear throughout.
Depending on the patient, imaging can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Factors such as the number of scans/areas needed and whether or not your pet needs sedation may affect the total running time. (Note: Sedation is only necessary for pets with high anxiety when it comes to being restrained or placed in awkward positions – as is the case when scanning hard-to-reach areas of the body.)
